Athletedom's standardized 1–99 AI rating system — what the numbers mean, how they're generated, and how to use them.
The 1–99 Scale
Every player on Athletedom receives an overall rating from 1 to 99. The scale covers everyone from raw prospects to the best players in the world. 99 represents the best player in the world at their position — we never award 100, there's always room to grow. League strength and competition level are already factored into the number, so ratings mean the same thing regardless of where a player competes.

Age Group Ratings — Separate Systems
Junior and youth players are rated independently within their own age group. A U20 player rated 80 is elite among U20 players — this does not mean they are an 80 on the professional scale.
When a player transitions to professional competition, they receive a new rating measured against professionals. A dominant junior player might be a 92 among U18s and receive a 63 as a pro — that's not a downgrade, it's a different scale against a different group.
AI-Generated & Unbiased
Ratings are generated using AI algorithms, not influenced by personal opinions, media narratives, or financial interests. This eliminates personal bias, favoritism, team loyalty, recency bias, and hype.

Potential Score
Alongside the current rating, each player receives a Potential score — a projection of where the player could realistically peak based on their age, development curve, and performance trends. For younger players, the gap between OVR and POT is often large. For veterans, OVR and POT are nearly identical — what you see is what you get.

Important — A Tool, Not a Verdict
Ratings are a starting point for evaluation, not the final word. They are not 100% accurate — they are designed to help scouts, coaches, and agents quickly filter and compare players across different leagues and countries on one unified scale.
Final decisions should always include watching game footage and in-person evaluation.
Ratings are updated periodically as new performance data becomes available.
